Who’s It For?
This qualification is for unsupported outdoor or adventure activity leaders, typically operating in situations where help is less than a few hours away, eg: outdoor instructors outdoor learning practitioners, mountain leaders, Duke of Edinburgh assessors, bushcraft instructors, forest school leaders, canoe expedition leaders. This list is not exhaustive.
Entry Requirements
Learners must be at least 16 years old on the first day of the training.
There are no other formal entry requirements but to benefit from the learning we advise that Learners have a minimum of Level 2 in literacy.
2 Day Outdoor First Aid – Course Content:
Day 1 – Classroom Based Outdoors
- Role and responsibilities of first aider
- Incident and Casualty Assessment
- Unconscious Casualty breathing normally
- CPR and AED
- Drowning
- Recognition and treatment (including hypothermia)
- Choking Casualty
- External Bleeding and Shock
- Minor Injuries
- MCQ Assessments – Multiple Choice Theory Assessment
Day 2 – Classroom Based Outdoors
- Incident and Casualty Assessment (Additional Information)
- Extremes of Temperature
- Burns
- Injuries to Bones, Joints and Muscles
- Head and Spinal Injuries
- Chest Injuries
- Posions and Stings
- Incident Manage of Multiple Casualties
- MCQ Assessements – Multiple Choice Theory Assessment

2 Day – 9.00- 5.00 – 16 Hours
Qualification:
QA Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid 1 Credit – (RQF)
On completion of a written & practical assessment you will receive Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid – Certificate valid for 3 years.
