If you’ve watched any of our Trainer’s Corner videos, you’ll know they’re all about giving practical first aid advice through realistic scenarios and the questions our trainers are asked every day on our courses.
Now there’s another way to access them.
We’re gradually bringing our Trainer’s Corner discussions to our In Case of Emergency podcast, making it easier to catch up on practical first aid advice whenever it suits you. Whether you’re driving to work, out for a walk or you just prefer listening to watching, you can now take our trainers with you.
Our latest episode: Chest Pain – What Should You Do?
The first Trainer’s Corner episode to feature on the podcast focuses on a situation that can make people feel unsure about what to do.
Chest pain can be worrying, especially when it looks a bit like indigestion, anxiety or even a panic attack, but you’re just not quite sure.
In this episode, Rosie and Steve walk through a realistic scenario involving someone who suddenly feels unwell at work. As they talk through the situation, they explain:
Common signs and symptoms that could indicate a heart attack
Why it’s not a first aider’s role to diagnose
The importance of treating for the worst-case scenario
How to support and position someone while help is on the way
When and why to call an ambulance
One of the key messages from the episode is that first aid isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about recognising when someone needs help, keeping them as comfortable as possible, and getting the right support quickly.
