How to maintain your first aid skills

How to maintain your first aid skills

We often get asked about which first aid refresher course people need to do so Carole has put together a video to explain this and we have clarified it in this blog.

If you take our one day emergency first aid at work course and receive your qualification, at the end of year 1 and year 2 you have the option to do a half day refresher course. It is not mandatory but it is good practise because it updates and refreshes your skills, especially if you haven’t had the need to do any first aid in the interim. At the end of year 3 you will need to re-take the one day emergency first aid at work course again.

With the two day paediatric first aid course, at the end of year 1 and year 2, we offer a paediatric refresher course. Again it isn’t mandatory, it is an optional course. At the end of year 3 you need to take the two day paediatric first aid course again in order to maintain the qualification. The same applies for the one day paediatric course.

For the three day first aid at work course, at the end of year 1 and year 2 we offer a half day refresher course which again is optional. At the end of year 3, providing your certificate hasn’t expired, you can then take a two day requalification course. Once that expires at the end of the three years, you can do the two day requalification course again.

If you took the three day first aid at work course and it has expired, you only have 30 days grace  after your expiry date to renew your qualification, if you have done your half day refresher at the end of year 1 and year 2. Otherwise you must renew before the expiry date.

Course options

You can study the three day first aid at work course as blended learning which means day one online and days two and three in the classroom. Or you can do all three days in the classroom if you prefer.

With the two day paediatric course, you can do the blended learning course with day one online and day two in the classroom or do both days in the classroom.

There are lots of different options to suit different learning styles that people have so we can always find a course that will suit you.
